The M.LINE™ High Mobility Line Array Series consists of three compact line array modules; the M90, a 90° 3-way biamplifed full range module, the M120, a 120° 3-way biamplified full range module, and the MS1, a flyable / stackable dedicated low frequency module. All modules in the M.LINE™ Series have been developed specifically to accommodate simplified load-ins and accelerated, low labor set-ups and tear-downs in small and medium format live sound reinforcement applications.
“The only feature M.LINE™ inherited from the MLA5 is it’s now famous POWERLINK™ rigging system,” Jason adds. “The MLA5 is known as the hands-down winner when it comes to pure usability, and the M.LINE™ takes that concept and runs away with it.” When flown, a M.LINE™ column can form either rigid or collapsible arrays, will hang vertically without straps or tethers, and can achieve down fill angles as radical as parallel to the deck without any raking or cinching. The system features fixed frontal spacing between modules and allows splay angles between modules to be set from 1° to 10° in 1° increments. The M.LINE™ Series also employs locking, releasable castor boards, which interlock and stack when not in use.
Yet the M.LINE™ High Mobility Line Array System is not simply a scaled-down version of the MLA5. “That wasn’t an option,” explained Scott Holden, Senior Applications Engineer for McCauley Sound. “We had to start from scratch. The acoustic demands of smaller venues are completely different than ones for stadiums and arenas. Plus, smaller venues are often unknowns, and can vary widely. We needed to conceptualize and design a system that could handle almost any space a small venue tour might encounter.”
Even the M.LINE’s bumper system is a breakthrough for systems of this class. Made from aircraft grade aluminum alloy, the bumper system weighs in at only 35lbs... light enough to be carried by a single person, yet strong enough to support sixteen M90 modules at a 7:1 safety ratio. This unique bumper system also doubles as a sturdy base for ground-stacking the M.LINE™ modules, offering users the ability to secure and even set splay angles for M.LINE™ systems deployed on the ground.
